I have just left ward 54 after having a gall bladder removed. I cannot praise all the staff more. I was reassured and supported by everyone from the moment I entered the SEAL unit, ladies waiting area for surgery, recovery and my overnight stay in ward 54. All staff worked tirelessly throughout the day and night, from bringing tea and making beds to the surgeon who performed the operation who met with me both prior and following surgery and the anesthetist who explained what and the reasons he would be doing what he does. The staff on the ward were so caring, taking temperatures, cleaning dressings and supporting and reassuring. I could see how busy they were with no difference in the level of activity for them either day or night but not once did they not have the time to help and support me. Going in for surgery is a worrying time and every single person who I came into contact with explained their role and said they were there to look after me and I felt that.
It was an amazing experience and I am, for one, very very grateful, thank you.
"Thank you"
