My elderly mother has been in this ward for over two weeks and during this time I have never been able to get through to the ward on the phone. It doesn't matter what time I try to phone them early in morning, late morning, afternoon, mid afternoon and evening time. They are not contactable. I have even asked the switchboard to put me through and they were also unsuccessful. This is extremely concerning, particularly as I had a missed call from the ward this morning which must be about my elderly and frail Mum, and I can't get to speak to anybody to find out what they want or how my Mum is? When I have visited the ward, I have noticed staff appear to walk past the phone or continue with their paperwork at the same desk with the phone just ringing and ringing. How am I supposed to get an update on the patient or return a call to the ward, when they have not responded to phone calls?
