"Doctors great!"

About: St Thomas' Hospital (London)

On arrival after seeking pharmacy advice I was made to feel like I was wasting time with one of my ailments spoken loudly across the desk- this not only embarrassed me when feeling low and unwell, I felt like I didn’t have the right to be there and I was wasting her time. This was extremely upsetting not knowing my full situation.

Fortunately the lady that registered me and the doctor were so lovely and reassuring with the doctor saying I did the exact right thing in coming. I have always had great trust in St Thomas and this will not change due to being made to feel like this.

More care needs to be taken because that first hand experience will stop people like myself who never make a fuss and very rarely go to the doctors let alone hospital think twice about getting checked in future and suffer in the hope of getting better instead of using the service. I aware the service is stretched and know many friends that are nurses but this was not what would be expected.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that both the member of staff who registered you and the doctor you saw were both pleasant and reassuring. We are sorry to hear that the member of staff who spoke to you on arrival embarassed you. This should not have happened and we would like to apologise for this. We will speak with staff and remind them of the importance of speaking as discretely as possible with patients.
