"Recent call from Surgery."

I received a call from the surgery which was a bit of a surprise. It was the pharmacist who is based there. He contacted me to discuss my medication. He told me he was changing my Apixaban to another medication which is easier as only once daily. I had been waiting for a letter from the hospital about my Apixaban and had heard nothing. He explained to me why they were changing it and that it would be reviewed again in 3 months, he told me how and when to take it and also had a prescription sent to my pharmacy for me so I could collect it. We also discussed my levothyroxine, it was amazing having someone go through my tablets in such detail and also listening to my concerns. I mentioned that I would have to pay again for the new tablets and he questioned why I was paying whilst on levothyroxine. I told him I’d always paid to which he said I shouldn’t be and sorted out an exemption form for me.

I have always found the surgery amazing and whenever I call the receptionists go out of their way to help accommodate myself and my children. Having the pharmacist call me to discuss my medication was the icing on the cake.

He was so polite and informative a real credit to your surgery, thankyou.

It is great to learn that this new role here at Thorpewood is, for you, ‘the icing on the cake’. It has taken a long while to come to fruition as we first looked to set up the role about 18-20 months ago, but I am so pleased that you have seen quick benefit now it is up and running. I will of course ensure that our Clinical Pharmacist is aware of your comments – they were really good to read, and it’s to his real credit that he has made such a good impression in the call.

Thank you also for the very positive reflections on the reception team, and indeed the whole surgery. We certainly strive for the very best care we possibly can provide, and to be described as ‘amazing’ is a real boost for the whole team.
