"Smoking"

About: St Richard's Hospital / General surgery

My dad was discharged yesterday after a four week stay. He was seriously ill when he went in and we were expecting the worse. But he is now a lot better but still a long way to go, he is 87. We cannot thank the doctors, nurses and all the staff who looked after him enough.

The only concern I have is the smoking area outside the front of the main entrance, I have waited there most days for taxis to take me to the station and have been shocked by what I have seen, patients in wheelchairs with drips smoking, patients in their pyjamas and dressing gowns sitting on the cold ground smoking.

The smoke drifting all around making the area smell of stale cigarettes. I appreciate that it is very hard to impose a complete smoking ban, but surely a more appropriate approach to the problem could be found.
