"My stay in hospital"

About: Golden Jubilee National Hospital / Interventional Cardiology Royal Alexandra Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I was admitted to the RAH after my 2nd heart attack in 5 months. I spent two nights in the RAH (CCU and ward 8) and Three nights in the Golden Jubilee. As before, the staff were great. I felt I was well cared for and I'm grateful for the work the hospital staff do.

In my 2 nights in the RAH, I was in 3 beds, in 3 different wards. The staff has a constant battle with trying to find space. I think the RAH is stretched beyond its means. I understand the need to try and accommodate everyone but when you are admitted to the hospital, the last thing you want to be playing is musical beds.

My 3 nights in The Golden Jubilee were 100% satisfactory. I felt the care I received there was 2nd to none. Food was good, the place it was quiet at night and I wasn't shifted bed or ward once.

In my opinion, I had a better experience at the Jubilee than at RAH, although as I said, the staff in both hospitals were very nice and took good care of me.

Dear Fidra

Thank you very much for taking the time to get in touch and we're very grateful to you for your kind comments in relation to the care you received which we have passed on to the relevant staff.

It might be helpful if I explain that patients admitted to the Coronary Care Unit are routinely transferred to Ward 8 Cardiology) once the acute phase of their illness has passed. We do try to keep bed moves to a minimum but I am afraid that at times of peak activity, there may be no option but to move more stable patients in order to accommodate new admissions.

I do hope that you are now making a satisfactory recovery from what must have been a very traumatic experience.

with best wishes,

Linda
