"Excellent service to Devon visitor"

I have a challenged immune system and developed an infection whilst in Exeter and thus away from my normal medical support network.

I came to the D&E expecting to have to go through the full A&E experience and with that a lost day, that I would undergo in London.

I was surprised but very pleased to be respectfully and professionally processed by a smiling receptionist, reviewed by a thorough and attentive triage nurse and in very quick time, treated by a nurse practitioner who, despite no assistance whatsoever from my own London GP surgery, got expert microbiological advice and had me on the right antibiotics within an hour.

I know that there might be greater strain on resources at more busy times of the day but the system at D&E's A&E/Walk in centre appears to me to be a model hat other should copy.
