I suffered from HG from early on in my pregnancy and received the most amazing care from everyone I came across at Kingston, from A&E to the Jasmine Unit where I was admitted for a few days. I felt genuinely cared about and in the best hands. I was constantly checked on and reassured, including being given two early scans at 8 and 10 weeks to make sure it wasn’t affecting the baby. I never managed to go back to the Jasmine Unit after my sickness passed to thank the staff there, but I hope my feedback will be passed on to them as they were just incredible.
I had a c-section and the whole process was relaxed and enjoyable. Everyone involved was friendly and respectful and put two first time parents totally at ease! The midwives who cared for us on Worcester Ward after the birth were wonderful and gave us all the support we needed while also giving us space to learn the ropes and bond as a new family.
We suffered some problems with breastfeeding in the days after the birth and the community midwives could not have done more to support us, both with feeding and emotionally. They came to visit me at home when I didn’t feel able to leave the house and followed up with phone calls to check in on how I was doing.
I will be forever grateful for the support we received from all the staff at Kingston Hospital during my pregnancy and the community midwives’ after care.
