"The staff bent over backwards to help me feel not so alone"

About: General Practices in NHS Highland Raigmore Hospital / Geriatric Assessment Scottish Ambulance Service

(as a friend),

I arrived in Dornoch on Monday evening by coach on the first day of my holiday. Whilst having breakfast at 8am the following morning my friend noticed I didn't look right and I felt unwell. The hotel contacted the local surgery in Dornoch for an emergency appointment. The treatment from the young male doctor, to the paramedics who then transported me to Raigmore Hospital was exceptional. On arrival the treatment continued to be second to none. I had a heart attack and remained in hospital for a few days whilst further investigative tests were carried out. Being so far from home, which is in Charlestown, Fife, the staff bent over backwards to help me feel not so alone. I cannot thank doctors, paramedics, nurses and specialist consultant staff enough. I am 73 years of age and now back home. As I do not have modern technology my travelling companion is doing this for me.

Dear woodpigeonbx74,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I am so sorry to read that on the first day of your holiday you had a heart attack. That must have been a very distressing experience particularly being so far from home. I hope that you are on the road to a full recovery.

I am very glad to read that the impression that you were left with was so positive. It is great to hear that the entire experience was at a standard as we would expect.

I wish you and your highly technical friend all the very best.

Kind Regards

Alan

Dear Woodpigeonbx74

Thank you for your feedback, we are very sorry to hear you became unwell whilst on holiday in the Highlands.

The staff you interacted with will be very pleased to receive your feedback. All of the teams work very hard to deliver high quality services every day for their patients.

We wish you a speedy recovery and hope you may be able to return to the Highlands in the future to enjoy the Highland experience outside the Health service.

Take care and again thank you for your feedback.

Katherine
