"Terrible Practice"

About: Willow Tree Surgery

Reception staff want to know full details of why you're asking for an appointment so they can decide if you need one. Last I heard receptionists are not medically qualified.

Also strangely circular argument - you can't have an appointment but can't have repeat prescription for essential medications until you visit for a needs review?

GPs have no empathy for older patients and preface every appointment with "I am not going to prescribe anti-biotics no matter what is wrong with you".

For 2 years put up with this but then insisted on hospital referral. Consultant at hospital immediately identified issue and gave anti-biotics that worked. Only temporarily though as issue has now become too severe and only an operation will resolve. This they will not do due to my age. Even though consultant has advised that only anti-biopics will alleviate issue now, the GP refuses to prescribe. If treated properly in the first instance this wouldn't be a chronic condition now.

Equally repeatedly told GP of pains in abdomen and was fobbed off with it's a UTI and to drink water and cranberry. Had a CT scan for a different issue recently and large mass on cervix discovered. Told this could be cancer but again unlikely to operate due to my age. Again if this poor excuse for a GP surgery addressed my concerns at the outset it is highly likely that I would not be going through the pain and despair I now am.
