"Twins birth"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital

(as a service user),

It has taken me ages to write this.   I've been meaning to get in touch to say a huge thank you to Midwife Donna.   I was in ARI to have my twins.   They arrived 6. 5 hours after induction of labour.

Donna the midwife (with over 20years experience) was amazing...she trusted in my body's ability to have the babies naturally and helped to keep the labour and delivery as stress free as possible, despite the fact that the induction had left me over stimulated.

She had a student midwife with her whose name I sadly can't remember, but who did very well.   The midwives in the postnatal ward were also very good at letting me get on with breastfeeding the twins.   They helped as much as I needed them to.

One area for improvement was that one day I wasn't given any lunch, which was tough when I was breastfeeding twins.   I was ravenous!   I also think the pediatrician who diagnosed a high arched palate in one of my twins could maybe have given me advice about how this could affect breastfeeding.   And tips on how to overcome the difficulty I had.   I am still feeding the twins now at almost 9 months.

Dear Katy F

Thank you so much for getting in touch, I'm sure that your hands have been quite full with your babies.

It is lovely to hear that Donna and her student enabled you to have the delivery that you wanted and helped you to trust your body to do the right thing.

I will pass on your positive comments to the postnatal ward surrounding the breast feeding and the area is certainly looking to how they can ensure that meals are readily available for all of our ladies regardless of time.

It is amazing to hear that you are still managing to breast feed your twins at almost 9 months and I will certainly let our Paediatricians know that a little advice would go a long way when diagnosing conditions that may affect feeding.

Thank you for getting in touch.

Liz
