"Car parking at St Johns"

About: St John's Hospital

(as a service user),

Had the same experience as the poor mum-to-be on another posting on this website. Could not find a space despite 25 mins or going round and round. Very frustrating. Phoned and told day surgery (pre-op) my problem and they have rearranged another appt. So trailed all the way back to Edinburgh. I took time off my work to attend that appt so am not happy.

I didn't see any signs telling me I could try another car-park or how to get "alternative advice".  Also, there was no warning on the admissions letter or info sheet to say parking is not guaranteed. Says "no charges" but that's all. Not good enough. People should be warned so they can make different travel arrangements.

Dear Outpatient from Edinburgh

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback with us and l am so sorry to read of the difficulties that you experienced when trying to find a car-parking space at St John's Hospital, especially as this resulted in you not being able to attend your appointment.

We are aware of the parking difficulties on many of our hospital sites and can appreciate that this can be an added anxiety for people. We do try to encourage people to use public transport but I do realise that this is not always an alternative option for people.

I have shared your feedback with the team and have asked them to see if there is anything that they can add to the appointment letters to inform people of the difficulty with car-parking.

Once again, please accept my apologies for your experiences.

Kind regards

Jeannette

Thanks, I think a warning on the letter would be very helpful and people can then make appropriate arrangements.
