"I know that I will be well looked after."

About: Wexham Park Hospital / Accident and emergency Wexham Park Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as the patient),

In early September I had been suffering with tonsilitis for about 5 days with antibiotics the condition seemed to be worse. I called 111 and they told me to get to an emergency department within the hour. I was worried this was dramatic and that I would be wasting the drs time! When I got to triage at around 9;30pm the lady who greeted me was lovely. She went straight off to get the on call ENT Dr. I was taken through to re suss almost immediately. The amazing Dr diagnosed me with Quinsy @(the 2nd case I had in 4 months) He acted quickly, got me on some steroids as the swelling was so bad and immediately started antibiotics. I stayed in that evening and was admitted in the early hours on to ward 10. The dr promised he would be back in the morning (I didn't think he would be back) At 6:30am he popped his head through the door to see how I was, he checked the swelling which had gone down marginally and said he would be back with the ENT registrar.

An hour later they were back and the ENT registrar said immediately when he looked down my throat 'we're taking them out' I was so relieved!!!  He was able to drain the Quinsy and removed 13ml of liquid (which he said is the most he has ever seen)

These drs, the nurses and everyone else I came in to contact with that day were absolutely amazing. I cannot fault them. I'll be back in Nov for my tonsillectomy and I know that I will be well looked after.
