"Waiting in A&E"

About: Croydon University Hospital / Accident and emergency

I was brought into A&E around 20.30 and apart from the preliminary tests I’m still waiting to see a doctor at 11.40! I don’t make a habit of going to the doctors or hospital and I’m very rarely ill. I’m appalled at the lack of communication and how dreadful the hospital is. Is this what our taxes pay for!! I feel like I’m in a third world country!

I am very sorry you experienced a long wait when you attended the hospital. We are aware that waiting times often are the main cause of dissatisfaction for patients and their carers. All efforts are made to keep waiting times to a minimum so I am sorry that this was not the case for you on this occasion.

It is not clear from the information provided what other factors contributed to make your experience unsatisfactory but if you would like to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) I will be happy to make sure that this is looked into for you.

Our PALS office may be contacted by telephone on 020 8401 3210 or by email at ch-tr.pals@nhs.net. The office is open during the week from 9am to 4:45pm

Kind Regards

Sarah Pritchard, Patient Experience Manager
