"Pediactrics"

About: Russells Hall Hospital

We come to Russell hall hospital every six months to see pediactrics for my son . This year the appointment has been cancelled 3 times meaning we haven’t had a appointment for a year way behind time . We have now been referred to a different pediactric but the waiting times to get a appointment are terrible. When your child is ill waiting months for a appointment is very poor. I feel there aren’t enough pediactrics there to deal with the waiting times . Children are being let down .

Thank you very much for your feedback and apologise for the delays you have experienced.

You may know that the Trust has experienced staff shortages in this field which is having a negative effect on waiting lists. We have recently recruited more paediatric consultants and clinical nurse specialists to create more clinics to reduce waiting times.

We have also reviewed the appointment booking process to help us reduce delays in making appointments and are reviewing individual concerns on a case by case basis. .

We would like to assure you that all comments are taken seriously and acted upon as part of our ongoing commitment to improving patient experience and so we have passed your comments onto the manager for children’s outpatients.

If you have not done so already, we recommend you contact our Patient Advice Liaison Service (PALS) so that we may assist you further in resolving your concerns, you can do this either by telephone 0800 073 0510 or by email dgft.pals@nhs.net .
