"No appointment"

About: Central Middlesex Hospital / ENT Hazeldene Medical Centre

(as the patient),

Hello All, I have had severe acidity and excessive burping for a long time. Last year my GP referred me for blood test and stool test, results came normal. But my symptoms didn't go. I pestered my GP to recommend me for specialist appointment and been told I need to take antacids for 2 months. I took antacids every day and still no luck. Again I asked my GP to refer me to specialist, they referred me for Endoscopy appointment.

I was waiting and waiting , but nothing happened. After 2.5 months I rang surgery and they said hospital canceled my appointment as not required. I was really annoyed, as I had to travel for work, I couldn't go to my GP again. Few months back I moved to a new surgery and as my symptoms had gone from bad to worse, I asked my new GP to refer me again. They said they will do so as  i am suffering for long.

I was waiting for 2 months and I didn't get any appointment , so I rang hospital to find out what happened. They checked my details and said they didn't get any request from GP. Actually my GP surgery sent my details somewhere else. I rang them again to sort out this mess, I been told they will send my details to hospital and it is my responsibility to chase the hospital and get appointment.

My symptoms are really bad now , I am not able to swallow food properly because of reflux. Every day i feel really tired and weak. I am still chasing them for endoscopy appointment. Is it normal or am I the 'special' one?

I live in Brent and hospital is Central middlesex hospital.  Not sure why it is taking too long in NHS and not sure why politicians are so proud about our NHS. It is my story!

I am sorry to hear that you have been suffering with these symptoms for so long and had such trouble getting an appointment.

It is difficult to help you navigate the system without knowing who you are. Can I suggest that once you know that your GP has made the referral, you contact our PALS team on 0208 869 5118 or LNWH-tr.PALS@nhs.net and they will help you.

Best wishes

Sue
