"Parking"

About: Southend Hospital

When you are in a position of having no choice other then to drive to the hispital to visit a loved one & coming every day, you find that you are completely stressed before you even get into the hospital because of the parking, I have tried mornings and early & late afternoons, no time is better, car park A for example states it is for patients & visitors however I have seen many doctors, nurses & other hospital workers go into this carpark to collect their vehicles, they have a 600 space multi-storey to park in, when I asked one of the nurses why she was parking in car Park A she said it was nearer to the hospital then the staff carpark??

Also the barrier raises to let a car in when a car goes out however if the person exiting has come from a disabled space and you are not entitled to go into the disabled space you are left with driving around the carpark waiting for the next person to leave, last week there was 4 of us driving around!

These problems are easily sorted, remind staff that they are not allowed to park in car park A, security needs to monitor this & issue penalties to offending hospital staff, also make one area of carpark, possibly around the back (easy access to hospital) disabled only or put all disabled spaces together at the tower block so other car parks are disabled free so that the barrier doesn’t raise and non disabled people are driving around and around with no spaces leaving tempers frayed.
