"A&E/GP OOH"

About: Royal Preston Hospital / Accident and emergency

Had bleeding at 16 weeks of pregnancy. Was advised to go to the local A and E to see if any scanning facilities were available.

This was understandably an upsetting time for myself and partner.

Lack of compassion from both A and E and GP out of hours. Neither introduced themselves at the start of the consultation, the GP felt it was appropriate to call out ‘’have you got your urine sample’ to me in the waiting room which was entirely inappropriate.

No empathy displayed. At a time when the service was not busy, there was time to show some people skills, such as looking the patient in the face when asking questions!

I understand that there may be no facilities available at weekends, but left there feeling more upset more so because of my treatment - like I was wasting their time.

We are so disappointed to hear this and we do appreciate how this will have made an upsetting time so much worse.

Please do consider contacting our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01772 522972 who will be able to liaise with the Emergency Department here at Royal Preston and obtain some feedback for you.
