"Fantastic care, information lacking"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Accident and emergency Pilgrim Hospital / General surgery

(as a service user),

Hi I was taken to Boston Pilgrim hospital last week. I was put on ward 5 a what a fantastic group of doctors and nurses you have on there. The care I got was great nothing was to hard to do and they sorted any problems out with a smile. But A& E is a pain I know it’s busy but to sit in a very small box for hours on a hard plastic seat when you are bleeding from your back passage was not right. After hours at last a nurse arrived with a trolley for me to lie on. The care is there and I know there is no way you can work with the 4 hour rule but please can somebody just keep us informed on what is going on. I wasn’t told for hours I was even stopping in hospital and it was so much better when I was allowed to lie down. When you are feeling ill just left alone the hours go so slowly. So to be told what is going on and what is happening in the next few hours would be so nice. Like I said when I was on the ward the care was fantastic and A& E the care was great but information from the A& E side was lacking and when you are ill it didn’t help

Hello Crisbev. Thank you for leaving feedback about your experience. I am pleased everything went so well on 5A and I know the team will be pleased to read this.

I have also passed onto the A&E team; they will be sorry to hear how you felt while you were waiting. It can often be some time before a decision is made about whether someone needs to stay in or can go home - waiting for test results for example or a specialist to come and see you - but we should have kept you better informed and we are very sorry. Even if we aren't sure what the decision is and are waiting for some information we could have said that to you to help keep you up to date.

I hope you are now fully on the road to recovery and thank you again for taking the time to leave feedback for us.

Jennie
