"Maternity complaint"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care (Wards 21-24)

(as a relative),

My wife was admitted with pre-eclampsia to labour ward directly above front entrance to wishaw general hospital.   As the room was very warm, I decided to open the windows and much do my dismay had to immediately close them due to the overwhelming smell of smoke. This was very annoying as not only was my wife trying to recover, it was coming from an area clearly marked with signs of “smoke free grounds” This is also at the area where new born babies take there first breaths into the outside fresh air World.

Hi Kgs123

Thank you for taking time to highlight your concerns on Care Opinion. I am sorry that your stay within the labour ward was marred by the smell of smoke through the window. This is an on going issue which we have identified within maternity and one which I will continue to escalate.

Please accept my apologies for this issue affecting you and your family during your stay.

Kind Regards

Amanda
