I would just like to say how grateful I am for the kind help and advice from the nurses operating the IBD helpline at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals, which I believe operates out of Pinderfields Hospital.
I start a new job shortly and I'm having a flare up of my colitis. Instead of having to make a GP appointment, who don't really understand my medication history or the details of my illness, to try and get some medicine that probably isn't the best choice for UC, I rang the helpline and they got me an outpatient appointment that got lost in the system and went above and beyond to get me in to see a consultant before I start my new job so treatment can commence and hopefully get me back into remission.
They prescribed me different medication, and understood the details of them perfectly. They very patiently explained how to collect my prescription, and seemed to genuinely have my best interests at heart.
I am just so grateful and happy with the nurse IBD helpline and the service has been absolutely wonderful. They were patient, polite, and I find that their specialist knowledge goes above and beyond what I've experienced with my GPs.
I can't remember the names of all the nurses I spoke to, but I spoke to one particular staff member today who was fantastic. This is a wonderful service provided in spite of government cut backs, and is the sort of thing I wouldn't expect a hospital to be able to provide. Long may it continue!
"Wonderful treatment by the nurses on the IBD..."
