"I visited my wife and came home and cried."

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital / Urology

would have liked it if either I or my wife could ask about treatment and if possible maybe about outcome - instead we were or are being made to feel a nuisance. Surely a little compassion and caring would make patients feel much better and possibly improve the eventual outcome or at least make patients feel less frightened. The experience of the last week has made me sincerely wish if I or when I get ill I can die quickly at home. Today I personally had a surgery in Wolverhampton and rushed up the motorway to see my wife who was very frightened and upset unfortunately I was late arriving and overstayed the visiting time 20 minutes, I politely asked whether my wife could have an extra blanket as she was cold and was I am afraid sarcastically told visiting finishes at 8 you know- was put in my place for daring to ask, I am sorry for asking another day I will take one in.

I am sincerely sorry to read of your poor experience. As a Trust, we value all feedback whether positive or not, and I would be very grateful if you could contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) to provide additional information and allow us to investigate this further. PALS are contactable on 01782 676450 or via email to patientadvice.uhnm@nhs.net. Alternatively you can visit in person- PALS is situated in the main entrance of either the Royal Stoke Hospital or County Hospital. I will also ensure your feedback is shared with the team on the Urology ward.

With kindest regards

Rebecca Pilling, Quality Improvement Facilitator: Patient Experience.
