I was suffering water retention in recovery when the Anaesthetist who had seen to me through the operation was concerned that my blood pressure was rising and they were changing over. The new Anaesthetist was introduced to me and they were both concerned, the first one went to find a urologist to help.
The nurse rang and there was a colleague who was on recovery who could deal with this who was told what was wrong. Instead of helping by way of inserting a catheter to help my water retention and then lowering my blood pressure which was now at 240 they said they were handing over and walked off and left me in severe pain.
The Anaesthetists who were now both trying to get me help but urology wasn't interested so the Anaesthetist who was with me said she could do it with the help of a nurse and they did the catheter which relived me of 1. 1 litre of water and my blood pressure drop back to normal. I was very grateful to the Anaesthetists and nurse who helped me but I think the person who just left me there in pain but was supposed to be helping in recovery was disgusting to leave me there in that situation because they were more bothered about handing over than a patient in need. I hope they will be reprimanded and told that a patient in need is more important than a hand over.
