I went to Wishaw hospital, ward 13 for a gynae op.
I was referred urgently via a possible cancer route to Hairmyres hospital. and was seen by Dr Willocks. My referral happened within 5 days which I thought was amaing. Dr willocks explained everything really well including timescales. I then went to Monklands for a scan which was perfect, I got my appointment exactly as Dr Willocks had said and saw a nice consultant, then I was admitted Wishaw. Everything was amazing, the communication, they were so efficient and kind and everybody was just great. I'm a G.P myself and being on the other side made me quite anxious but I had no need to be. I was admitted to the pre op unit first and everything was lovely, staff were really helpful. . There was a nurse who told me my operation was running a bit late , which I thought was great, I was glad to be kept in the loop.
The anaesthetist and the consultant were both great too, they came to see me on the ward and they couldn't have been nicer, they were so kind and they made me feel proud to be part of the NHS.
On the ward I was so impressed, the staff were just on top of things and professional, I was astonished. It was very busy but they were just on top of everything, for example, my obs were always taken on time and I didn't ever need to ask for pain relief because I was always offered it just before I needed it. The whole experience was brilliant.
"Astonished by the care I received"
