"Excellent care"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Urology

My first op in over 40 years but having had close family in DRI for treatment in recent years I knew more-or-less what to expect. Must say I wasn't disappointed. Staff were great, nurses worked hard to make all patients feel at ease, even if one-or-two patients were awkward pains in the rear. Doctors & consultants I saw were extremely informative and open to questions which they answered fully. Thought I would be bored stiff but time flew. The only slight downers are the beds - why no one can design a hospital bed that is actually comfortable to sleep in is beyond me - and the food. Can't blame DRI for that as it is supplied by outside caterers. As a diabetic vegetarian on low-cholesterol, low-salt diet, choice was a bit restricted. Just lucky I was left when I did, the "vegetarian" meal that evening was not what I'd call vegetarian. My op was 100% successful though I did suffer a great deal of agony having my catheter removed. Unavoidable I suppose but would've preferred the option of a local anaesthetic. On the whole, 10 out of 10 for the way I was treated.
