After years of ill health and inconsistent 'help'. I had to give up my job due to severe anxiety, depression etc. Felt like a total breakdown. Not functioning, in bed most of the time. Back and forth to GP, given more pills each time and referred to secondary mental health care. Have confessed each time that I was suicidal to GPs. Now get aetter from GP and copy of a letter from Maidstone Community Health Team (KMPT) saying that they have decided that "I do not have a clear need for secondary care and are recommending Primary Care Counselling". They are suggesting I take a highly addictive antipsychotic drug (used for bipolar/schizophrenia which I have not been diagnosed with). I will not be monitored on this and it sounds dangerous with short and long term side effects even on lowish dose. A few weeks ago I telephoned KMPT as my GP said I could, I was crying and intending suicide. I was put on hold numerous times to speak to someone, when they eventually did, he sounded like he couldnt be bothered and said he wanted to put md on hold again! My husband e plained the seriousness of the situation and he said "there was nothing he could do and if I hit worse, call the crash team". My husband asked how it could be any worse?? My husband telephoned our GPs and duty one called back and left prescription at desk and made emergency GP appointment for the morning. That GP wrote to KMPT to explain the situation.
This 'service' is dangerous and totally inadequate!
"Dangerously Un-Caring, Chaotic - No Service!"
