"Not a great Assessment"

About: Cumberland Centre

I attended the MIU as i had sustained some sort of bite on my foot a few days previous on. It had become red, hot to touch, swollen and very painful and this had spread quickly. I had initially had nausea and feeling unwell but had managed to keep this at bay with paracetamol and anti sickness.

I was initially seen by a lovely HCA who took my observations. Then i was called in by a lady who wore pink and white striped uniform and on her badge was Ass.Practitioner.

I took off my shoe and she felt the top of my foot which was, as she remarked hot to touch and it was also extremely painful to touch. I was asked to push against her hand and to pull away from her hand with my foot and I had a limited range of movement as i couldn't put much pressure at all on my foot or bend it.

There was no limb comparison, she didn't feel my toes to assess for any differences in sensation, there was no checking for a pedal pulse. I was asked which anti-histamine i had been taking, i advised both Loratadine and Acrivastine as i was unable to take Piriton due to making me very drowsy. I was also taking ibuprofen and paracetamol and had been using ice to reduce swelling.

I was advised that because i was not symptomatic, the guidelines stated to rest, elevate, take Piriton and apply Ice/Cold compress. She stated she had discussed it with a colleague, however, this other colleague had not seen my foot.

I am a little concerned that a band 4 practitioner was completing an assessment for ? Celluiltis and did not complete a proper assessment.

I have since been given antibiotics for Eron class 1 cellulitis of my foot by a registered practioner.

I have no objection to anyone assessing me if they have the necessary skills and can in fact assess properly.
