"The Staff - a poem"

On one Friday recently, I had a delicate operation to attend

I was welcomed by the nurses, as to my bed they did send

Every member of staff that dealt with me, was so kind

Though there are two that were very special that come to mind

The first was Giuseppe, the man from Palermo

He helped me prepare for the place I had to go

I thank him for making me feel welcome in the ward

A good man, that the hospital is lucky to afford

The second i'm wondering if she still is or was real

As I woke from my operation, with a smile that appeals

A beautiful smile that lit the ward up, and put me at ease

Despite what I went through, her words did please 

Or was it all the medication I was on, this isn't lines of cheese

Just truth, so lovely, so kind, again worth the nhs fees

So I thank her, though i didn't really want to leave

What a sight to see from waking... surprised i could breathe

Thank you Roberta, you made my day of worry turn around

And thank you all that helped before, during and after the op

You all made the hospital a place anybody would like to stop :)
