"Lack of tact and empathy in advising diagnosis"

About: Blakelands NHS Treatment Centre

I recently had a flexible sigmoidoscopy and had the worst experience of my life. I opted for without sedation and the procedure was quite painless. My experience came after where I was told to turn onto my back and it was blurred out that I have a malignant tumour and then asked whether I have anyone with me. I found this very tactless and would have preferred for my husband to have been called and I was actually dressed in an office. As a result I have changed to another hospital where I have found them much more attuned to a patients feelings, thoughts and considerations. Having said this, the nurses and sisters were fabulous so it’s not the entire team.

To date I have not heard back from Blakelands
