"Marvellous Hopistal with fantastic staff! So..."

About: Alder Hey Hospital

My son was referred by his GP straight to Alder Hey. From the moment we arrived we were treated brilliantly.

I can’t thank the Doctor enough who talked us through exactly what he thought the issues were and what tests he had planned and why. The staff on EDU where we spent the whole day were fantastic. Particularly the HCA. He made my soon feel at ease and tried everything he could to comfort him and make him forget what he was there for - telling him stories, brining him toys and drinks! Even upon leaving my son asked where is my friend so I can say goodbye? Absolute pleasure to have met him he is doing an amazing job!

The doctor looking after us returned many times throughout the day to discuss results of different tests scans etc he understood our concerns and didn’t try to cover anything over he was truthful and we whole heartedly appreciated that.

Finally we seen the senior Doctor who gave us the best news ever - what we and also the hospital staff had thought was the problem, definitely wasn’t the problem and we all sighed in relief. The doctor conducting all these tests made sure that he had covered everything and was happy for my son to go home that night. He explained why he was unwell and also what the issues were and how we go about it now.

Without the proactive nature of the doctors here and all their knowledge we couldn’t have had a diagnosis within a day and also the relief knowing that nothing bad was on the horizon. As a parent this day was is something I’d never want to go through again but I’m confident with the resources at Alder Hey they would always find an answer.

This hospital is amazing and everyone in Britain are so lucky to have the NHS for this reason. I hope we never have to return but I’m positive that if we did we would receive the best possible care and treatment.

Thank you Alder Hey.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide this lovely feedback. I have shared this with the team and asked that they make sure the staff you have highlighted and the rest of the team see this. Feedback such as this is a great motivator for our staff and demonstrates that the specialist care they provide does make a difference.

I do hope your son is now recovering at home .

Many thanks again.
