"Emergency cholecystectomy"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / General surgery Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery

(as the patient),

I was admitted to qmc for an emergency cholecystectomy . I was extremely anxious about the surgery but the surgeons gave me a very clear explanation of the procedure and this was very reassuring. The anaesthetist was lovely, she was very caring and supportive and made me feel very safe in her care. Post-op I was transferred to ward E15 where the staff made me feel very welcome, they were all very friendly and introduced themselves, although it was clear they were busy I didn’t have to wait for pain relief and at no point did i feel that I was rushed.

Although the ward decor is in need of some attention the ward was clean and uncluttered, the food was lovely with excellent choices.

I cannot fault the care I received and would like to give heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in my care.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, which we’ve shared with our HPB and Pancreatic Surgery teams and the staff on Ward E15 at QMC. We are so pleased that you felt safe, cared for and supported in our care and that everything was fully explained to reassure you before your procedure. We know that staying in hospital can be an anxious time for patients. I’m so pleased that our team made your experience a positive one.

All the best

Kirstie Kirton, Ward Manager E16
