Have two experiences of the conquest hospital neither of which are particularly positive. My most recent was giving birth to my daughter 5 weeks early. I was not checked on and when the pain got to much and the midwife saw I was crowning she ran off and simply said "Oh". I was then rushed to a room which hadn't been cleaned and cleared of the previous occupant; there was blood on the floor and the toilet/shower room floor was covered in broken glass. My notes specified I wanted to deliver upright and not on my back but I was forced to lie down against my wishes and despite the fact it made the pain a lot worse. I was just lucky my active stage of labour was quick. Afterwards getting stitched up I had people coming in and out while I was eagle spread on the bed.
Sadly due to GD with this baby I have to give birth there again, I just wish they'd make some effort to make a space like the Eastbourne DGH that future mothers can feel more secure and deliver their babies in a less clinical environment, respect the wishes of mothers and try and uphold the modesty of patients.
