"Doesn't cater 2 international patients despite..."

About: Spire Sussex Hospital

Spire says on their website that their "international team works hard to make the whole process as smooth as possible for our global patients."

Since I am finding myself on holiday in the UK for a few weeks, I called to arrange a simple ultrasound test as part of treatment that I am undergoing in Germany, obviously prepared to pay as a private patient. As far as I know, the UK is still within the EU at this moment, so I never expected any difficulties. I have also had the same procedure done without any difficulties at the Royal Cornish Hospital in Truro.

After being put on hold again and again, I was told that I needed a referral from an English GP. I fail to see how you cater to international patients if they need to have an English GP (that's surely the whole point of being an 'international' patient?).

Bizarre and very disappointing indeed.
