Yesterday I had surgery in Wishaw after a scan on Tuesday confirmed I had lost my baby. I just wanted to praise all of the staff who I came into contact with from my scan through to after surgery care.
I’m sorry I don’t remember all of their names but Eilidh was one of the midwives. Everyone was so kind and went out of their way to make sure I was ok, emotionally as well as physically.
The surgeon (I’m sorry I can’t remember her name) took her time to explain everything to me and came to check how I was before I went home.
I became upset in the operating theatre just before I was given my general anaesthetic and a very kind lady came over and held my hand and told me that I’m allowed to cry and grieve but not to worry about the operation as they would look after me. This really helped me. It’s very intimidating being taken into an operating theatre and having to lie yourself on the table and I felt so sad to be having the operation but her kind words helped me through.
Everyone from the midwives, porters, Surgeon and anaesthetist made me feel looked after and supported.
I can’t praise the NHS enough and the staff in Wishaw.
