"My miscarriage"

About: University Hospital Wishaw

(as a service user),

Yesterday I had surgery in Wishaw after a scan on Tuesday confirmed I had lost my baby. I just wanted to praise all of the staff who I came into contact with from my scan through to after surgery care.

I’m sorry I don’t remember all of their names but Eilidh was one of the midwives. Everyone was so kind and went out of their way to make sure I was ok, emotionally as well as physically.

The surgeon (I’m sorry I can’t remember her name) took her time to explain everything to me and came to check how I was before I went home.

I became upset in the operating theatre just before I was given my general anaesthetic and a very kind lady came over and held my hand and told me that I’m allowed to cry and grieve but not to worry about the operation as they would look after me. This really helped me. It’s very intimidating being taken into an operating theatre and having to lie yourself on the table and I felt so sad to be having the operation but her kind words helped me through.

Everyone from the midwives, porters, Surgeon and anaesthetist made me feel looked after and supported.

I can’t praise the NHS enough and the staff in Wishaw.

Dear Rainbow1234

Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us about your expierience at the early pregnancy unit here at University Hospital Wishaw.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your baby and can only imagine what a difficult time this must have been for you not only to have this happen to you but also the thought of going to theatre.

We aim to provide person centred care at the early pregnancy unit and it is heartwarming to see that we helped you feel emotionally and physically supported during this stressful time.

Eilidh who works in early pregnancy will be delighted to hear you were happy with the care she has provided to you.

Please be assured that this will be shared with all staff concerned which will include the doctor, anaesthetist, nursing staff and porters.

Thank you for taking the time to write and I do hope you are recovering after your surgery.

Kind Regards

Lyn
