"Anxiety CBT during pregnancy"

About: Bromley Healthcare / Talk together Bromley (IAPT)

(as the patient),

I self-referred to TTB on recommendation of my midwife because of low mood & anxiety during the first trimester of my pregnancy. I had been having some quite dark moments fuelled by work anxieties and then exacerbated by normal pregnancy changes. From the initial phone consultation to the therapy completing I could not fault the service. Both the initial assessment and subsequent therapy gave me huge comfort that I wasn’t losing my mind and gave me insight into what causes my anxieties and practical tools to deal with them.

The therapist Deepa was brilliant and created a treatment plan that was clearly laid out and articulated. Each session was very action focused and I always had homework. I was very motivated to get better so was keen to do that and quickly learned that just understanding why I think like that doesn’t really make things better. The tools and practising them everyday do make you better. It’s not an easy road to recovery and it takes a lot of practise but I feel well equipped to deal with anxieties and periods of anxiety in the future.
