Have just finished radiotherapy at this hospital. The facilities are very good, clean and fresh looking. Well maintained.
However, the staff at the radiotherapy department leave a lot to be desired. dealing with people with cancer requires empathetic people which most of these are not. They are very clinical in their day to day work with patients. While I was there I observed some patients in some distress at the waiting times. these were patients with a full bladder, fairly mature and found it difficult to wait over an hour to be seen. When I mentioned this to one of the radiotherapists he just said they should stop moaning!!!
The exceptions to this is one member of staff who was absolutely wonderful and a credit to the hospital for her empathy and understanding. Never failed to make me feel comfortable whilst others there would make you feel as if you are a burden to them.
I would also like to thank the reception staff, who, once again, were very polite and understanding. especially one receptionist who always took the time to welcome you and dealt with anything thrown at him with a kindness and humility.
Both members of staff I would like to thank for making this ordeal bearable but feel the rest of your staff in radiology require some customer care courses.
