"Midlands Psychology"

About: Midlands Psychology CIC North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust / Child and adolescent mental health

(as a parent/guardian),

Made to feel like a bad parent after our son from a toddler weighed more than the average child, due to his lack of mobility and his carb, yellow, crunchy foods diet.

After years of asking for help and being told I should just give him salad by his pedi dr and gp. We were refer to a dietitian, who felt just weighing him would help us, but offered no advice. I went online and found out about midlands psychology, asked for an information pack. Once we received it , we called and booked an appointment. Clarissa was amazing she came and explain why our son struggled with certain foods. She made us feel at ease and not bad parents, which is what we had been labelled as for years. So we went to our GP for about the 9th time and asked for a grant to give our son the help he and we needed.

After 18 months we had heard nothing so I chased again this time higher up the chain. To be told it had been passed to camhs. Contacted camhs who informed me they do not have a food therapist and so could not help and they had filed the case.

So went back to the go and fought for another 3 months till it was approved and we had our first real appointment with Clarissa.

From that day we have gone from strength to strength.

Our son is trying new foods slowly and making good choices. He has accepted the changes we have made and has even made some himself.

We have been given access to courses and groups which we have found to be a huge benefit.

We would have been lost without the understanding and compassion we have received from Midlands Psychology. If you have a child whom finds food an issue and struggles with eating or eating the right foods then based on our experience this is a good place to go, this team, is the team you need on your side.
