on 21/7/18 my 14 year old daughter was admitted to The children’s ward St Helier via A&E with appendicitis, I have worked as a nurse on and off at St Helier for the last 30 years and would like to say a massive thank you to all the lovely staff who looked after her. Everyone treated us so well, nurses and doctors tock time to explain things to her in a way she understood and reassure her before her operation. Luckily they operated on her that evening and she was able to go home the next evening and recover at home. One thing I was especially greatful for was the surgeon coming over to speak to us as soon as the operation was over, one of the worst experiences is leaving your child in an anaesthetic room, so his prompt reassuring that all had gone well was amazing.
