"Nurses and the doctors on f20"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Older people's healthcare

(as a relative),

My father was a patient on f20 for a week and I feel that we have not had a straight answer about anything the whole time getting a different answer every time we asked first it was a infection then heart failure then trouble with kidneys infection in legs. None of the nurses or doctors who we are sur posed to trust gave the same answer then  they said they were happy for him to be discharged and arrangements were made for transport home carers were called to start up calls friday I phoned to find out what the plans were and was told he might not be coming out as bloods needed

checking the doctor said she would ring me back to let me know after ringing back again was told yes he is definitely being discharged and would be home for carers before 6 30 my daughter rang back around 7 30 and was told he was still coming home then she rang back again later as mother waiting at home for him and was told no he isnt coming home after all

nobody bothered to ring and tell her she was very upset and angry my daughter then asked about tomorrow and was told could be. I find this both unacceptable and very unprofessional   It feels like the doctors we dealt with have no thought for patients or family never giving a proper answer I think this should be looked into and I will be taking it higher to get answers and a apology for the upset and stress they have caused especially to the patients wife I think its an absolute disgrace

Thank you so much for getting in touch and sharing your feedback. I am sorry to hear about the concerns regarding your father’s care on the ward, including poor communication that occurred throughout his stay with us, which included on his discharge. This has very clearly caused you and your family considerable distress. I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you personally about your concerns so that we can listen and learn. You can contact me on 0115 924 9924 ext. 60558 if you would like to do this.
