My experience with the children's allergy service was very good. I was offered numerous additional options on each visit when it was seen that the previous treatments were not fully working until a set of treatments right for me was found. Eventually, I was given a three-year desensitisation therapy called Grazax. This helped my grass allergy greatly, and it would be a very positive change to see this more widely available on the NHS. As well as this, having an adult's clinic for those with allergies on this site would help ease the transition from child services to adult services. At current the closest clinic of this type is in Newcastle, meaning anyone needing its services would likely have to travel further.
