"Outstanding care from all staff"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Respiratory Medicine (Breathing and Lung Problems)

(as a relative),

I want to express my sincere and heartfelt gratitude to all of the staff on ward 107 at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary who looked after my Granda in the final weeks of his life.

My Granda was really unwell when he was admitted from a local care home and the 107 staff were amazing from start to finish. They treated him with respect and dignity. Nothing was too much trouble. It was the total opposite to the care he was receiving prior to his admission.

The 107 staff did anything and everything they could to make his stay as comfortable as possible, they kept us well informed of his progress throughout his stay and were a rock to our family during some of the toughest times we have ever had to face. As well as keeping my Granda comfortable in his last few days they did everything to ensure we were too, with endless cups of tea, support and the odd blanket when it got a bit nippy in the middle of the night. They were efficient, thorough and the nursing care was excellent. My Granda has always been a bit of a cheeky chap and they humoured him and kept his spirits up when he really needed it the most.

The medical staff were also fantastic. Especially Dr Scott, DrFitch, Dr Dempsey, Dr Cheong and all members of the medical team and support staff. They tried tirelessly to try and treat my Granda the best they could, even when all of the options had run out.

Thank you again, your team really is a credit to the NHS.

Dear Stacey and family

Many thanks for sharing your experiences whilst your Granda was in ward 107. I appreciate that this will be a very difficult time for you and your family and am so pleased to read that the team treated him with respect and dignity in his last few days.

I am also heartened to read that despite the sad circumstances the team managed to keep his spirits up at a time when he needed it the most and that the care shown to you as a family also made your stay in the ward as comfortable as possible.

As a team in ward 107, the staff try hard to ensure a high standard of care is delivered at all times and that the care is person centered and on reading your post, I am pleased to hear that this was the case for your Granda.

I will share your kind words of thanks to the whole team.

With thoughts and best wishes at this time

Fiona Robertson

Chief Nurse
