After having an accident at work I was ambulanced to Harlow Hospital A&E where after an X-Ray and an eleven hour wait I was transfered by ambulance to The Royal London A&E for another eleven hour wait with some more X-rays, then admitted to an emergency ward with complex fractures of my Jaw,my chin was broken off and the upper left mandible was smashed into many pieces. The next day the Trauma team of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Dep't began my repair in a truly fantastic manner.
I am full of admiration for and am massively grateful to the entire incredible team. The aneasthetists were sympathetic and brilliant, the nurses wonderfull and the surgeons considerate and great. I woke after the first surgery with my chin reattached and received excellent nursing and post operative care. I was discharged after a couple of days and arrangements were made for my re-admission and the repair of of my smashed upper jaw. This was carried out by the same trauma team to the same excellent standard.
The follow up care I receved via clinic7 at the dental hospital was also excellent.
All the people involved in my care from reception staff, nurses, cleaners and catering staff were lovely
As the department deals with emergencies and was very busy most of the time I did do a lot of waiting and I think the subcontracting out of the porters and catering was a bizarre mistake, the individuals carrying out these duties were considerate and kind.
I would certainly recommend the Trauma Care at the Royal London to everybody. It really is world class.
"World class trauma care"
