"Persistence of the staff"

About: Boyatt Wood Surgery

Bed-bound with high temperature required a home visit which was simply and quickly arranged.

The doctor arranged for an ambulance and paramedics treated me at home.

With no improvement a second home visit was organised by the Surgery and at the doctors insistence and fear of Sepsis a transfer to RHCH was organised for admission.

Following discharge from hospital the infection abated but loss of balance remained a debilitating problem.

It was the search for its cause and trial of possible treatments that was carried out with admirable determination. The doctor secured assessment at RHCH within 24 hours,.Admission to RHCH was immediate.

Almost as quickly a further transfer was made to the Neurological Centre at Southampton for a subdurall hematoma operation the following morning.

The speed with which resources were focused on what was an obscure and serious situation represented the NHS working at its very best.

Central to this were the efforts of all the staff at Boyatt Wood Surgery in its attempts to identify the problem and making sure that the necessary resources were brought to bear.

And their efforts were rewarded in achieving a good recovery
