"Very good experience with the wellbeing service!!"

I suffer with bipolar disorder. Although I am on medication, I have struggled for the past 6 months after no help from professionals for over a year. I’ve started to feel very unwell with my mental health, I lost a friend last year to suicide in one of the worst ways possible and I am now suffering with new anxieties that are becoming quite distressing. It has been very difficult coping with certain stressful things lately and my usual “tools” that I use to help me cope, are no longer working for me. I decided to pluck up the courage (after hesitating for weeks!) and made a self referral online to The wellbeing service late in the evening. The next morning, they called and I missed it. I called them back and they got me to hang up and they called me back, which was great! The lovely gentleman on the phone was so nice and caring, was thoughtful and he actually listened to all of my problems. He took his time, was very patient and didn’t rush me at all. I felt heard for once!! He seemed really concerned about my new issues/symptoms and made a referral to my CMHT. He told me an appointment will come through in the post and to see my GP in the meantime.

I suddenly had a call at lunchtime from a duty social worker, at my CMHT, telling me they received my referral and they can get me in for my assessment appointment in just over a weeks time! Wow that’s fast! Was not expecting that at all. Absolutely amazing service!

I had used this service before, around 4 years ago and it took a good few months to receive an assessment appointment. This time it was all dealt with within 24 hours, that’s amazing! For someone with severe mental health issues and are struggling, it’s amazing that I can get help straight away from this service! I don’t know what I would of done if this was not here. I’d prob be stuck in A&E. Ive checked out the website and it is very valuable too with all the self help guides, sites and info. Please use this service to access help if you need it. Do not bottle it up. Find help! I fully recommend this service to anyone that might need help!! Thank you for helping me! Keep up the amazing work in helping people access the help they need. You are a lifeline!!
