"Left without medication"

About: Yew Tree Centre

For the past 4 months I have had problems getting my repeat prescriptions. I ring the chemist to be told it has been ordered a few times but GP: has not issued it. Ring GP only to be told chemist as not ordered it. Again, ring the chemist to be told same thing. I rang surgery last month over this and spoke to a member of staff, after telling me it was the chemist at fault and me explaining I have spoken to them & they have asked for it on 3 separate occasions, the member of staff then informed me she would call me back, which never happened. My medication arrived through chemist delivery 2 days later.

Again, this month, I have had no medication for 5 days, rang chemist to be told GP have stated they will not deliver unless in blister packs. I have no letters or phone calls regarding this. Patient online access does not show my prescriptions so cannot use that and have no one to collect. I suffer severe anxiety and cannot get out most days, have no friends or family local to collect. I am basically left now with no medication and no way to order them. After trying for months to solve this problem, each time ending up in tears on the phone. How are housebound people meant to get repeat medication when nothing shows up online to order yourself and then not being able to collect? I am now looking to move to another surgery as this centre is causing my mental health to worsen.

Hi there,

I am sorry to hear you feel we have let you down, We have a 48 hour policy for ordering repeat prescriptions and they do indeed go direct to the chemist apart from certain controlled medication, however if the chemist delivers your medication then they will collect these meds for you and deliver all medication at the same time.

In regards to patient access you can order all your medication through this method, if some medications are on your repeats you can type at the bottom of the page what else you require and we will sends through to the clinicians for completion.

Once you have actioned this, in 48 hours your medication will be at the chemist waiting for delivery.

If you need to call to check then I would direct you firstly to the chemist as patient access is for the benefit of the patient and you would only need to contact us if the items are not at the chemist.

We do allow you to order 4 days before the due date also just for your information. Please keep me posted if this continue and I would prefer to speak to you directly to help resolve any further issues.

Many thanks

Practice Manager
