"I know how hard the staff work"

About: NHS Scotland Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

Just back from A&E on the 70th birthday of NHS.

Couldn't ask for any better treatment than I received.

GP was concerned I'd had a stroke.. turned out it's Bells Palsy (As I thought).

Karen please pass on my thanks to the staff at A&E and especially the 2 neurologists I saw. X

More determined than ever to save our NHS.

Edited to add:

Don't know who's idea it was for the new name, but I attended A&E at the Southern General Hospital. From the receptionist to nursing staff and medics, I was treated with dignity, respect & compassion.

As a retired RGN, I trained and worked at the SGH. I know how hard the staff work, for very poor financial benefit. The recent 9% over 3 years equates to less than £10 an hour increase for Band 5. The Scottish Government should be offering a decent and meaningful rise. The Trade Unions should be demanding it.

I take no pleasure in the fact that Scottish A&E's are outperforming those in England. Everyone deserves equal access to health care, free at the point of need. That's what  the NHS was created for, and what we pay our NI for.

For too long our NHS has relied on the goodwill of staff to deliver a service to the public. Today, on the 70th anniversary, it's time for Politicians to adequately fund the service and stop squandering money on unnecessary vanity projects.

I was born in the NHS, as was my daughter and grandson. My mum and dad both died in the NHS. We all benefit from It. Time we raised our voices and made the Politicians listen.

Dear Joyce D

Thank you for taking the time to share your post on Care Opinion.

I am pleased to read about the care and treatment you received at A&E.

It is lovely when the staff’s hard work and dedication is recognised and I will make sure that we share your post with Karen and the staff in A&E and the Neurology Department.

Take care

Nicole
