"Terrible service"

About: Forestside Medical Practice

Last week I had an appointment and was rushed with explaining the problem I went to the doctor about. I was told I only had 10 minutes and to be quick. When I explained my symptoms I was asked, ‘well what do you want me to do about it?’ I also had a few other things I just wanted to touch base on, including asking a question about my under active thyroid, and asking the doctor to very quickly look at a mole that’s increased in size that my mum asked me to just have checked while I was there. I was rushed once more and told I only had 10 minutes for this appointment. When talking to the doctor about another, relatively urgent issue I was told she had no time to check me over and told me to make another appointment. With all this rushing I was in and out in about 8 minutes - with no resolutions! Today, I went in for my next appointment and sat waiting for 35 minutes to see the doctor. I have to say she was lovely but annoyingly gave me a name of a product to buy over the counter at the pharmacy (I double checked I didn’t need a prescription and was told I can definitely buy over the counter) I went to 2 pharmacies and was told I need a prescription - a absolute waste of my time!

I am sorry that you feel the practice has let you down and that you were unable to put your comments in writing to your usual GP in order that they can response directly to you.

We strive to provide a quality service to all our patients and unfortunately at times we may get it wrong.

General practice is under extreme pressure and clinicians are limited to what they can provide within a ten minute appointment slot.

Surgery times are also dependant upon the patients who are seen before you as if there is a medical emergency then that can cause the doctor to run late for the rest of their surgery/day.

Also we do ask patients to book a double appointment when they know they have several things that need to be sorted.

I am sorry we were not able to assist you on this occasion and hope that you managed to resolve the issue with one of our staff or by a follow-up appointment.

If I can be of any future assistance please do not hesitate to contact me at the surgery.

Kind regards

Julie Stewart

Practice Manager
