"Cancelled Appointments"

About: Kent & Canterbury Hospital / Cardiology Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital / Cardiology

(as a relative),

In 2017 my partner who is completely disabled and bedridden, spent six months in Kings College London and QEQM Margate having heart and stomach operations in which she almost died. Since her discharge one year ago she has experienced a series of appointment cancellations at out-patient clinics in Kent and Canterbury and QEQM hospitals because she can only attend on a stretcher. The clinics often either phone her or G4S patient transport on the day of the appointment to cancel the appointment when they realise she has to attend on a stretcher, this after she has had to go to the stress of being dressed to go by her carers. I have reported this situation to the CQC because the trust have ignored this serious situation. I am also hoping the media will cover this situation because I believe this is a blatant discriminatory and uncaring attitude by East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust
