"No appointments, rude staff!"

About: Boroughbury Medical Centre

I had the unfortunate opportunity of visiting this place today with my 85 year old Mum to try to get an appointment as she has been in pain since Friday due to having a procedure carried out by a nurse at the practice, but had no luck getting through by phone, we were greeted by a receptionist who looked like she was chewing a wasp, no smile, no hello can I help you, just a scowl as if we were inconveniencing her for daring to expect to make an appointment. She made no attempt to ask if my Mum needed urgent medical assistance, just barked at us that there was no appointments for weeks! When I questioned how they were booked up for weeks when no one could get through at 8am to make an appointment, I was just told, there are no appointments you'll have to ring at 8am tomorrow or the next day until you get through! I asked for a doctor or nurse to ring my Mum, this made her sit up in her chair and say "what's the point in that, they can't see her over the phone" I pointed out that at my surgery a doctor or nurse will assess a patient over the phone and will arrange an appointment if deemed necessary, much to her disgust she had to comply with my request and arrange a telephone consultation.

This surgery is a shambles, they are an embarrassment to the NHS, first impression with any business is the reception staff and our experience today was not a good one.

The practice manager doesn't seem to be doing their job very well judging by the amount of 1 star reviews, someone who has some clout at this surgery needs to look into exactly who, where and how this practice is letting it's patients down!

We are very sorry and disappointed to hear that your experience of visiting our Practice with your Mum was not a good one and agree that we have fallen short of our customer service standards in this instance. Your feedback is invaluable to us in assisting us with our continuous improvement and would assure you that your feedback has been used for learning and development for our front line Patient Services team.

We would also like to assure you that our team at Boroughbury Medical Centre are committed to delivering the highest level of service to our patients in what is an extremely difficult and challenging time for both the NHS and General Practice.
