"Terrible"

About: Brook Lane Surgery

The surgery it's self is a nice building but parking is ATROCIOUS.

You can never get an appointment when one is required and the closest hospital you can be referred to for blood tests is the one in Portsmouth, completely forgetting that Fareham community hospital is a short walk away and seems like the surgery don't utilise it's presence at all.

The receptionist is incredibly rude and dismissive.

Getting a prescription requires patients to ring the surgery at a certain time which is inconvenient for those working and it also builds up long queues on the telephone.

Needs massive improvement.

My family tries to make appointments regularly but can not get through or are given ridiculous options.

*I didn't visit the surgery in June but am putting that as I can't remember the exact month I last visited.

For the first time ever I asked NHS Choices to remove this comment as it is libellous.

NHS Choices have declined to do so despite this breaking their moderation rules.

Therefore, I am forced to give the following response.

Parking at the surgery is very far from atrocious.

We have a non-profit making car park management system in place to overcome the horrendous problems we had when the staff of the sorting office, next door, along with the members of the public collecting parcels from the sorting office considered that it was their right to park in our car park.

Brook Lane Surgery holds a phlebotomy (blood taking) contract with the Clinical Commissioning Group and we take all our own blood tests at the surgery.

Our patients cannot go to Portsmouth or to the Fareham Community Hospital next door.

We utilise the Fareham Community Hospital for X-Rays, MRI scans, Physiotherapy, midwifery services and many consultant led clinics.

We also use the meeting room facilities there.

In addition we utilise the GP extended access appointments that are run from the Fareham Community Hospital every weekday from 18:30 to 20:00 and all day on a Saturday.

To state that we do not utilise the presence of the Fareham Community Hospital is totally inaccurate.

To state that all our reception team are incredibly rude and dismissive is outrageous.

Our reception team do a very difficult and demanding job and despite dealing with, at times, very aggressive and abusive patients, they try to remain professional and calm at all times.

A prescription can be ordered online at any time of the day or night, it can be emailed or faxed to us or you can bring it in in person.

In addition we offer a two hour slot during the day when you can telephone your request in.

This is a service that hardly any local surgeries offer so to state that this is the only way of obtaining a prescription is, quite frankly, rubbish.

If you need a regular appointment your GP will inform the reception team of this and this can be organised for you.
